Like many other DBZ fans, you might have purchased the original Legacy of Goku and was disappointed, but this game is different. Honestly, this game is nothing less than better than the first.
The legacy of Goku, unlike other DBZ games, is an action RPG. What that means is your characters grow, gain levels, and there-in learn new moves or abilities. The game continues through the Trunks, Android, and Cell sagas from the anime. What makes this game fun is that it is real-time, unlike more popular RPGs such as Final Fantasy or Breath of Fire. This makes it easier to get into for the leisure player-enough ranting, onto the juicy stuff. As mentioned earlier, the gameplay is much, much better than the first. First of all, you can now choose multiple characters to complete specific tasks. If you’ve watched the anime, this will make perfect sense. The game script is very similar, if not the same as the anime. Even Vegita’s insults remain the same!! The basic combos such as punching and kicking, have been severely refined from the first game. Characters no longer take days to throw a single punch or kick, now you can unleash devastating combo to defeat your enemies. One last thing, you get an ability that allows you to change your hair and eye color magically. Not to give out any more spoilers, but there are side quests to complete that enhance gameplay and reward players.
The one area of this game that could use a little bit of improvement would have to be with the battles and the battling system. Repeatedly punching and sometimes using one of your special powers (Super Saiyan, for example) can become a little cumbersome. For some reason, it is always straightforward to die even if you’ve leveled up higher than what is in your surroundings. However, the battle system, even though it could be improved, and leveling up never really became a big chore. However, people might have some problems because you have to level up characters individually. After all, they always FIGHT separately. So, leveling up one of your group members to level 30 entails that you need to take the time to do the same with the rest. Once again, just a minor quibble.
