WWE Road to WrestleMania X8 is a professional wrestling video game released on the Game Boy Advance handheld console by THQ in 2002, based on WWE’s 2002 pay-per-view WrestleMania X8, their biggest show of the year.
The gameplay is much improved over the first. There are fewer characters, and videos may have been scrapped, but so has the annoying stamina bar and career mode password system. Each character has more moves, and many characters now have two or more finishers. There are also many modes to challenge, and most of these are one player modes! Controls are simple. Career mode is fun, and Pay-Per-Views are challenging because you have to satisfy Vince McMahon and the crowd. Another fun thing is when you go through certain modes, there is a Shop zone in the data option, and you unlock ”items” for sale. It’s a good sequel, although there could be a CAW mode.
The biggest disappointment in the previous WWF Road to WrestleMania. Moves are easier to pull off in this game (one of these where you have to grapple first and press buttons), but it still kind of sucks because you have to press A+B at the same time (Why can’t they just use the select button since there’s no job for it?)to pull off the finisher. So you will probably find yourself keep body slamming your opponent all the time. Thank god the special bar doesn’t go down as fast as it does in WWF No Mercy(Nintendo 64). When you try to flip the opponent, sometimes you wake your opponent up, and when you want your opponent on their feet, you flip them because you’re basically using the same button. It’s random.
