Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge was available by Capcom on Game Boy on July 26, 1991, in Japan, and five months later, the game was released in North America. In addition, the European region was available by Nintendo the following year (July 10, 1992). The game’s content is based on the original events of the Mega Man series. After defeating the plot to invade the world of Dr. Wily and his minions (Robot Master), Mega Man has established a new peace. However, Dr. Wily doesn’t want to stop and has a bold plan to take revenge on the world’s hero. Besides bringing the Robot Master, this evil scientist also prepares a special weapon to destroy Mega Men. A new robot has been developed, it is the Mega Man Killer, and it has another name, Enker.
In Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge, players will have to fight eight Robot Master. After defeating the first four, Mega Man will invade the Dr. Wily fortress. Here, he will negotiate with the remaining robots to quickly chase Dr. Wily. Meanwhile, Mega Man will meet the new robot, Enker. Defeating this special robot, Mega Man will have to destroy a Wily’s new weapon to end the game.
Like the Mega Man series on other platforms, the game allows you to select one of the available stages to fight. However, this game only offers four stages to choose, they belong to the Master Robot, Elec Man, Ice Man, Cut Man, and Fire Man (taken from the first version of the Mega series Man on NES). The remaining four Robot Masters will be fought in a fixed room. Once the Robot Master is defeated, the other will quickly appear, and you have to continue to fight. They are Flash Man, Quick Man, Heat Man, and Bubble Man (belong to Mega Man 2). In addition, defeating a Robot Master, you can use a specific weapon and upgrade to improve combat skills. Besides familiar battles with the boss, players also face many dangerous pitfalls. The game will bring many different traps to enjoy, some can destroy, and the others cannot. To destroy the traps (or enemies), Mega Man will use the buster gun (with unlimited ammunition).
