GameCube is a gaming console which was developed by Nintendo in Japan and North America in 2001; in Europe and Australia in 2002. It is the sixth generation console that inherits Nintendo 64 and competes with PlayStation 2 by Sony and Microsoft’s Xbox. GameCube is appreciated for graphics, with N64, GameCube is the second device that can display 3D graphics. GameCube as well as N64 … gradually are forgotten, drifted into the past, adding a sad failure of Nintendo by the wrong business strategy when using a mini disk with only 1.4 GB, quite little compared to 4.7GB of regular DVD. That has made the famous game gradually face them.

The development progress

This square block uses the IBM’s Powerk Gekko processor at 486 MHz. It can provide 1.9 GFLOPS power. Nintendo uses the system based on a simple RISC architecture, in hopes of regaining the third-party developers that they lost when releasing the N64 system. The system also has 43MB of RAM and uses the ATI Flipper graphics chip at 162 MHz. GameCube can display a resolution of 640x480p. GameCube does not have an internal hard drive, like Microsoft’s Xbox, instead of use a memory card.

The outstanding games

GameCube’s games has 3 categories with 8 games, including 5 games for online internet connections and 3 games for LAN network. Some outstanding games are 3 RPG games in Sega’s Phantasy Star series: Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II, Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II Plus and Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution. Some added games after 2007 such as 1080 ° Avalanche, Kirby Air Ride and Mario Kart: Double Dash!. They require gamers to have the internet with PC software that is capable of transmitting network of the GameCube.

In addition, Nintendo GameCube receives quite positive reviews from the gaming community. Many major magazines have well rated the hardware design on many gaming forums around the world. Most users rate it in average, lacking a few important features. Also, the hardware is not beautiful but there is quite diverse game categories.
