The Kingdom Hearts series have been a very good series right from the start and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is no exception.

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days is based around how the 358 days a boy named Roxas, who is the nobody of Sora, lives during his time with Organization XIII, who are the antagonists of Kingdom Hearts 2. The game starts with Roxas being shown his name by a cloaked figure. He then proceeds to join Organization XIII. Eventually, Organization XIII receives a new member shrouded in mystery called Xion. Over the course of 358 days, Roxas learns more and more of Organization XII, his life, and Xion. There are some bland and slightly boring spots throughout the story, but overall it is very entertaining.

The game plays out in a mission type way over the course of 358 days. Some days have multiple missions, others will have one, and some days will be skipped. Some missions will have multiple objectives while others will not. If you have been following the Kingdom Hearts series, expect little to no changes in the combat system. The level, magic, items, equipment, and abilities system have taken a big turn, however. To use your level-ups, magic, items, weapons, and abilities you must now equip them using something known as the panel system. Certain things take up different panel amounts and are in different shapes.

In this regard, it sometimes is almost like a puzzle to get the proper things you’ll need for a mission to fit. You start with a small amount of space for your equipment, but through items known as slot releases, you will gain more space and be able to fit more equipment onto your panels. As with the Kingdom Hearts tradition, you will be able to purchase and synthesize new equipment using the Organization Moogle, which is available after a small number of days. However, this time, you must use heart points for purchasing new items and certain materials to synthesize items. All of these gameplay concepts mesh together to create a better experience than all the other Kingdom Hearts titles in the series.
