Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects is a game that was based on the comic series of the same name, Marvel Nemesis. This game was available on five platforms, including PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation Portable (PSP). In which, the first four platforms are designed by nStigate Games. The version for the PSP platform was developed by EA Vancouver. Besides, the game was available to the market by Electronic Arts. It was present in North America on September 20, 2005, and Europe on October 14, 2005.
Like the comic series, the game’s content will focus on the missions against The Imperfects. This organization was made up of special powers humans, and many famous Marvel superheroes would have to work together to defeat them. The leader was Niles Van Roekel, and he created The Imperfects to invade Earth. However, the fight against The Imperfects and Roekel was in trouble from starting. Three of Marvel’s most powerful and experienced superheroes had been defeated, Captain American, Hulk, and Punisher (characters that cannot be used).
In Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects, players will meet many familiar characters of Marvel. The producer has prepared a diverse system of characters to explore. Gamers can use Human Torch, Magneto, Wolverine, The Thing, Spider-Man, Venom, Storm, Daredevil, Iron Man, and Elektra. With the game’s villains, there are eight members of The Imperfects to defeat. They include The Wink, Brigade, Johnny Ohm, Fault Zone, Niles Van Roekel, Solara, Hazmat, and Paragon. However, the PSP character system is different from the rest of the platforms. In which, Human Torch and Daredevil will be removed. Replacing the positions of these two characters is Captain American and Doctor Doom.
The players will have to fight each stage separately, and each allows control of a different superhero. With the element of fighting and defeating Roekel’s invasion of the Earth, the player has to complete the required tasks in an available sequence to go forward. A unique feature of the fighting system is that it possesses the Fatality feature (Mortal Kombat). It will be activated in case the enemy’s life force is reduced to 25% or lower. Besides, the manufacturer has designed a diverse motion system to use. Each will have many different moves and from these movements, players can create a series of powerful attack combos to quickly defeat the enemy.
About the graphics system, it really doesn’t get good reviews. The game’s context is quite simple and does not have many outstanding or beautiful details. In addition, the effects of fighting skills or explosions are also normal, not creating a sense of excitement for the player.
