Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005) is the next version of Star Wars: Battlefront II (2004) and is the second version of the Star Wars: Battlefront series. This game is still based on the famous Star War brand and designed by Pandemic Studios. It was later available by LucasArts on three platforms, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Microsoft Windows. The game was launched in two regions, Europe (October 31, 2005) and North America (November 1, 2005). In addition, it also owns a version exclusively for the PlayStation Portable platform (PSP) by Savage Entertainment. It is available on the PlayStation Store, and everyone can download for the PSP, on October 20, 2009.
About the content, this version does not have many changes compared to its previous. Players still focus on campaigns to defeat the enemies on many different battlefields (inside warships in outer space or below the ground). Each will bring different contexts and goals to complete. Besides, the game also prepares a special campaign with an Imperial Stormtrooper perspective. The campaign system has design with two separate stages. The first is Clone Wars, which brings battles and power struggles between the two factions, Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS) and Galactic Republic. Later, the second is the Galactic Civil War, which involves Rebel Alliance opposing the Galactic Empire’s dominance.
Like the previous version, each stage will allow players to join all factions to experience. Each will own six different character classes. There are four basic classes which you can use from the game’s beginning, the two others have to unlock to use (after the player has completed a certain number of missions). The four basic characters include engineer, sniper, light infantry and heavy infantry. With two special character classes, the Rebellion force will own Wookiee and Bothan Spy. The Republic force will have Jet Trooper and Commander, CIS bringing Droideka and Magnaguard. Finally, Empire owns the Dark Trooper and The Officer.
Besides the campaign, the manufacturer also brings two other additional parts, Galactic Conquest and Instant Action. In which, Galactic Conquest allows players to control a fleet and participate in battles on many different planets. Depending on the region, players can receive defensive or invasion missions. However, the basic objective is still to destroy all enemy fleets. As for Instant Action, the manufacturer has designed this game with many challenges such as Space Assault, Capture the flag (CTF), Hunt mode … Specially, the challenges will be held in 24 maps, and players can freely choose a map to experience a certain challenge.
Compared to the image quality of the previous version, this game does not have too many new points. The image details are still careful and vivid. Manufacturer still provides two views (Third-Person Shooter and First-person shooter) to use.
