Tekken 4 is the fourth version of the Tekken series of fighting games. This game is the second version of the series which was released on the PlayStation 2 platform. It was developed by Namco. It was first launched in 2001 on the Arcade platform. It was not until 2002 that Namco released the PS 2 version. Unlike previous versions, this game received some negative feedback. The first negative comment was that many familiar characters from the old version did not appear. Besides, some new combat mechanisms have been added but are not really attractive (and also not appear in later versions of the Tekken Series). In addition, the power system of the characters is a big difference and not balanced. For example, Jin Kazama of this version possesses a great power, many people always use it.
The game’s content
The game’s content is said to follow the plot of the third version. After the tournament and witness the Ogre’s true shape (True Ogre), Heihachi Mishima gave people collect blood samples and some of the creature’s remains to study its genes. From there, Heihachi could create a new form of the gene, by combining the Ogre’s gene with him. However, this experiment failed and Heihachi scientists came to the conclusion that Heihachi’s gene lacked the Devil gene and could not be integrated with Ogre’s. Therefore, he had to bring in someone who owned the Devil gene to complete the experiment. With that request, Heihachi had someone search for Jin Kazama to steal his grandson’s genetic sample. The work was not going smoothly, and the search for Jin was at a dead end. Thinking that this experiment would stop, Heihachi discovered thet his son was alive, Kazuya Mishima (presumably also possessing the Devil gene). Since then, a new battle for possession of the Devil gene had occurred. At the final battle to control this remarkable genetic, Jin Kazama confronted his father once more.
The Game modes
In this game, players will discover eight different game modes. They are Story Mode, Arcade / Time Attack, VS Battle, Team Battle, Survival, Practice, Training and Team Tekken Force. In which, Team Tekken Force is a new mode, and the player has to fight the members of Tekken Force. In particular, they are divided according to different power levels, and player will face many dangerous enemies at the end of this game.
Compared to the Tekken 3 PlayStation platform, the PS 2 platform has received many powerful upgrades in image quality. From there, this game get more vivid graphics and beautiful. The visual details are also smooth and sharp. The visual system’s negative is that some battle stages will cause the character to move slowly.
