Shooting challenges are always an interesting topic with many people (from players to makers). Especially, by the time the sixth Console Game was released, many manufacturers quickly launched attractive games with this theme to provide entertainment for people. From there, Capcom also quickly released an addictive and funny shooting game. The game is Cannon Spike which was available by Psikyo. This game was originally released for the Arcade platform in 2000. It was later modified by Capcom and ported to the Sega Dreamcast platform. With the new platform, the game was available in Japan and North America in late 2000 (corresponding to November and December). By 2002, it was launched in Europe on May 3. In particular, this game is believed to be the last game of Dreamcast published for the European.
Besides having the challenge of multi-directional shooting, its appeal is that it has many famous characters from different Capcom’s games. There are seven characters to choose from before starting to fight, with the five shown characters and two hidden characters. In which, the five characters are Arthur (Ghosts’ n Goblins), Cammy (Street Fighter II), Shiba Shintaro (Three Wonders), Charlie (Street Fighter Alpha), and Simone – a special character is designed according to Linn Kurosawa (Alien vs. Predator). Finally, the two others are Baby Bonnie Hood (Darkstalkers) and Mega Man (Mega Man Series).
In Cannon Spike, players will fight in different stages and battles with bosses. At each battle stage, players control the character with a view from above and participate in a battle in a restricted area. The goal is to move to avoid enemy damage and destroy them to go forward. In matches with regular enemies, the game is relatively simple (although you have chosen the hardest level of the seven difficulty levels of the game). And the boss battles get good reviews to bring fierce competition. From there, players will have to move smart and persistent to defeat the boss.
With sharp 3D graphics, Cannon Spike will give players smooth motion and visuals to enjoy. Besides, each stage will provide a separate context to fight which brings new and interesting to the players.
