EarthBound is a role-playing video game developed by Ape Inc. and HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
Again, one of the top parts of the game, this storyline is fantastic. I’ve never seen anything that could surpass this. It was put together so well that you could feel like you were part of the game. The storyline gave you an experience that is unmatched by even today’s best batches of RPG’s
First thing’s first, the inventory management was my most significant negative. So many odds & ends to find & collect, never quite sure if they’d be needed down the road, no pun intended. Alas, characters can only carry so many, & even store a finite with Ness’ sister. When money was pouring in, it took until later stages that I could finally drop food & features that I could just buy again without worry. I did enjoy how linear the journey remained. I’m not a colossal RPG’er, not least ever unsure where to go/what to bring, lest I end up underpowered come game’s end battle. Controls were great, & for the most part, the actions go smoothly enough, with the counters giving a parachute of sorts for staying alive. Too many repetitive messages with Mom, Dad, etc. could’ve used a quick jump like how they enabled meeting underpowered baddies. I’ve seen ppl mention the lack of multiple item purchases at once, & yet without much room to store, that never seemed an issue for me.
Most of the sound is excellent, and if you play it for just a couple of minutes, odds are you are going to start humming the themes of each area to perfection. The sound may be simple, but it fits the game nearly to perfection. By far one of the best soundtracks in videogame history.
